Vol. 373 No. 2

Written Answers. - Proposed Dublin Road Widening Scheme.

143.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received detailed proposals from Dublin Corporation for the proposed road widening of Patrick Street, New Street and Clanbrassil Street; if such proposals have been the subject of detailed discussion between the road engineers and administrators in Dublin Corporation and his Department; if he now has an estimate of the entire cost of the proposed roadworks; if he has satisfied himself with the proposed designs of the Corporation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Detailed engineering proposals in respect of the Lower Clanbrassil Street-New Street South scheme and the Patrick Street scheme have not been received in my Department.

I understand that in June 1986 the local authority initiated a review of the proposed schemes and that as a result revised plans are, at present, under consideration. An estimate of the cost of the schemes is not available in my Department.

There have been informal discussions about the schemes between officers of my Department and the local authority as part of the process of ongoing contracts between the Department and local authorities in relation to grant aided road proposals generally.
