Vol. 377 No. 3

Written Answers. - Funding of Community Facilities.

109.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether there will be any capital grants available in 1988 towards the provision of community halls, swimming pools, sports tracks and/or other community facilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter with particular reference to the amount of money likely to be spent in 1988 in County Kildare.

There is provision in my Department's Estimates for 1988 for capital grants for swimming pools. Grants will also be made available for recreational and amenity projects under the Amenity Grants Scheme financed from national lottery funds. I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Questions Nos. 27 and 76 of 25 November, 1987, in which I indicated in general terms the types of projects which may be assisted under that scheme. I am not yet in a position to indicate the likely funding for particular areas.
