andMr. Nealon asked the Minister for Labour if his Department pay grants to members of the public, if so, the amount of each such grant approved for payment, but unpaid as of 31 December, 1987; and the equivalent figure for 31 December, 1986.

I take it that the Deputy is referring to individual members of the public rather than organisations. My Department do not pay grants direct to individuals. Grants under various employment schemes, for example, the enterprise scheme are now a matter for FÁS, An Foras Aiseanna Saothair.

It is assumed that the Deputy is not referring to statutory payments such as redundancy entitlements.
