Vol. 379 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funds.

261.

asked the Minister for Education if an application for a grant from the national lottery fund has been received from the 168th Catholic Boy Scouts of Ireland, St. Aongus, Tymon North, Tallaght, Dublin 24, for the construction of a new scouts den; and if she will issue approval for same as soon as possible in view of the urgent need for this facility in the area.

My Department have not received any formal application from the 168th Catholic Boy Scouts of Ireland, St. Aongus, Tymon Norh, Tallaght, Dublin 24. Before the availability of a grant can be considered, it will be necessary for the organisation to apply for grant-aid under my Department's capital grant scheme for the construction of recreational facilities. A copy of the application form and conditions have been sent to the Deputy.

I must stress, however, that the keen demand for the relatively limited funds available means that financial assistance cannot be presumed in respect of an application which may be submitted by any group.
