Vol. 395 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Kerry School Transport.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

271 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for Education if she will investigate the restoration of the school transport service to cater for persons (details supplied) in County Kerry who are attending Tahilla National School and from which transport services were withdrawn from 1st September 1989.

The service from the Let-terfinnish closed school area of Tahilla national school was terminated in July 1989 as there were insufficient eligible children offering for transport. My Department subsequently offered a grant towards the cost of private transport arrangements to Tahilla national school for one family who qualified for grant assistance.

The question of restoring this service cannot be considered at this stage as there are only two eligible children offering for transport.
