Vol. 405 No. 3

Written Answers. - Removal of Smolts.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

210 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Energy whether public money is being utilised by a company (details supplied); if this company is removing smolts by helicopter or other transport from Derrynane, County Kerry, for fish farms; and, if so, the location where smolts are being removed to; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This company are a wholly-owned subsidiary company of the ESB and the only public investment was the initial capital provided by the ESB. The matter of removing smolts from any location to another is part of the day-to-day activities of the company and is one in which I have no function.
