Vol. 410 No. 2

Written Answers. - Admission to Harcourt Street Hospital.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

193 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Health if he will agree to assist a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who has been waiting a long time for an operation to place grommets into her ears in Harcourt Street Hospital, in view of the fact that the child's speech is becoming impaired and she is also in great discomfort on a regular basis.

The Deputy will appreciate that admission to hospital is a matter for the clinical decision of the consultant in the first instance.

I understand that the person in question has an admission date in the National Children's Hospital in Harocurt Street for Monday, 16 September 1991.

Should the parents in question be concerned about their child's condition they should contact their family doctor who would be in the best position to emphasise the urgency of their case to the consultant directly.
