Vol. 410 No. 2

Written Answers. - Provision of Cork Garda Sub-Station.

Paul Bradford

Question:

134 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Justice if he will consider the possibility of having a Garda sub-station provided to serve the southern side of the town of Mallow, County Cork.

The Garda authorities inform me that the current arrangement whereby Mallow is served by one centrally located Garda station makes the best use of available manpower and is suitable to needs. Apart from the financial implications, an additional Garda sub-station on the southern side of Mallow could only be manned by withdrawing gardaí from outdoor patrol duties which the Garda authorities consider to be most important in the prevention and detection of crime in the town.
