Vol. 410 No. 6

Written Answers. - Killerry Drainage Scheme.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

53 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Finance the total estimated cost of the Killerry drainage scheme; the estimated length of time to complete the scheme; whether the scheme will attract EC funding; if so, the amount of such funding; and the reason the scheme has been advertised for tender to the private sector.

It is too early at this stage, before the completion of tender documents, to say what the cost of a drainage scheme for this river would be or how long the works would take to complete. There are no EC funds available for the project.

The scheme has been advertised for tender to the private sector so that the commissioners would be in a position to commence works rapidly should a decision to proceed be made.
