Vol. 413 No. 7

Written Answers. - Kerry Kidney Dialysis Service.

Jim Kemmy

Question:

15 Mr. Kemmy asked the Minister for Health if she has received proposals from the Southern Health Board for the provision of a kidney dialysis service in County Kerry; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

A proposal for the provision of a kidney dialysis unit at Tralee General Hospital was submitted by the Southern Health Board in 1986 but was not proceeded with at the time due to financial constraints.

The provision and organisation of hospital services in County Kerry is primarily a matter for the Southern Health Board which must have regard to their competing service development priorities and the resources at their disposal.
