Question:

239 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Environment when funds will be made available for the north Sligo (augmentation) water supply scheme for which plans have been submitted to his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Plans submitted by Sligo County Council for this scheme are under consideration in my Department. Having regard to the existing level of commitments under the water and sanitary services programme, I am not in a position to indicate when a decision on the scheme may be made.

I understand the group are now examining tenders for the proposed works and expect to appoint a contractor shortly. Grants will be paid as work progresses on the scheme.
