Question:180 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has to sanction the commencement of an extension to a school (details supplied) in County Cork. [13940/96]

Approval to proceed with the architectural planning of an extension at this school was given in July 1995. The Department's technical staff have recently completed their examination of the revised stage 1 submission which was submitted to the building unit by the school's Consultant Architect.
It is hoped that a planning and briefing meeting will be held shortly between official from the Building Unit and the school authorities.
The question of providing capital funds for building will not arise until the planning process has been fully completed. Every effort it being made to have the planning of the extension completed as quickly as possible.
