Vol. 467 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dublin Airport Services.

Máirín Quill

Question:

26 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications his policy in regard to the introduction of competition in the provision of airport services in Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14169/96]

In so far as this question relates to the concept of adapting Baldonnel aerodrome as a second commercial airport for Dublin, I made it clear last January that I had concluded that the project would not be in the interests of the aviation sector and the economy generally. That remains my position.

In so far as the question relates to the Huntstown passenger terminal proposal at Dublin Airport, I have said that this proposal should and must receive careful consideration. This examination is in hands in my Department.
