Vol. 469 No. 2

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Recruits.

Noel Davern

Question:

142 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Defence the number of recruits which will be taken into the Defence Forces in 1996; if he will ensure that Kickham Barracks, Clonmel, County Tipperary will receive an allocation of these new recruits; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17057/96]

It is proposed to enlist 200 recruits in the Permanent Defence Force in the current year. The deployment of members of the Permanent Defence Force, including recruits, is a matter for the military authorities in the light of the requirements of the Force generally. No decision has been taken on the deployment of the proposed intake of recruits.
