Question:304 Mr. M. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide funding for the provision of a modern sewage treatment plant at Rathcormac, County Cork. [1804/97]
Vol. 473 No. 4
304 Mr. M. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide funding for the provision of a modern sewage treatment plant at Rathcormac, County Cork. [1804/97]
A proposal to construct a treatment plant at Rathcormac under the 1997 small schemes programme has recently been submitted to my Department. In line with the recently announced decision to devolve responsibility for small public schemes to local authorities, the advancement of this scheme will now be a matter for the local authority concerned.
305 Mr. M. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide funding for the provision of the water scheme for Cobh/Carrigtwohill/Midleton, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1805/97]
Contract documents for this scheme have been submitted to my Department but, given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve it.
