Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - Remedial Teaching Service.

Michael Ring

Question:

315 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education whether some remedial teaching hours will be provided for children attending a national school (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that they are finding it very difficult to manage and are behind the other students in writing and reading skills. [1022/97]

A member of my Department's inspectorate has investigated the educational needs of the children in question. I understand that a special programme has been designed within the school to meet their needs.

I also understand that the remedial teaching service in the area is currently being reviewed. The needs of the children in question will be taken into account as part of this review.
