Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tax Allowance.

Michael Creed

Question:

106 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Finance if a person (details supplied) in County Cork is paying excessive income tax on his FÁS income. [1012/97]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that a tax-free allowance certificate issued to the taxpayer on 9 January 1997, effective from 6 April 1996, granting an allowance of £6,150 per annum or £118.27 per week. The certificate issued on the basis of information supplied to the Inspector of Taxes by telephone within the previous week. Any excessive income tax paid since commencement of his employment will be repaid by his employer on implementation of this certificate.
