94 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Education when a remedial teacher will be provided for a school (details supplied) in County Galway. [4581/97]
Remedial teachers are allocated on the basis of priority of need as determined by my Department following the collection and analysis of of data from schools, by my Department's inspectorate. The allocation of such posts is also subject to resource availability in any given year.
I am not in a position at present to allocate additional remedial teachers to primary schools.
95 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Education when a person (details supplied) in County Galway will be granted a full-time position in her school. [4611/97]
Prior to the amalgamation of the two schools at the location in question, the person concerned was employed with County Galway vocational education committee on a part-time basis in the vocational school. Upon amalgamation, she was assimilated into the new community school on similar terms to those previously enjoyed and she continues to be employed in a part-time capacity.
Having regard to Government policy on public sector numbers, it is not proposed to create an additional full-time clerical post at the school.
