Vol. 476 No. 5

Written Answers - Unmanned Petrol Pumps.

Tony Gregory

Question:

203 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if the Garda provide a service to owners of unmanned petrol pumps where customers unwittingly fail to pay; and if so, the service provided where it is established that there was no intention to commit any criminal act. [7366/97]

The Garda inform me that they have no particular function in the area of unmanned petrol pumps. These are the responsibility of the owners.

However, the Garda, as a matter of course, take appropriate action in relation to all complaints of alleged fraud. If the Deputy has information about a particular complaint, and supplies details, I will ask the Garda authorities for a report on it.
