Vol. 478 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

107 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education the proposals, if any, she has to carry out refurbishment works to a school (details supplied) in County Cork; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11686/97]

The board of management of the school in question was recently given approval for the provision of three general classrooms in prefabricated accommodation. Subsequently, a letter was received from the board of management requesting the Department to fund the cost of the prefabricated accommodation and the board of management would pay the balance in order to build a permanent building. My Department then offered the school an all-inclusive grant in the amount of £50,300. The school's design team is currently preparing documentation for submission to the Department, i.e. drawings, specifications, tender documentation etc.
