Vol. 485 No. 2

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Jack Wall

Question:

302 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his Department will ensure a quick decision regarding a land registry deal (details supplied) in view of the fact that the delay is causing financial problems for the person involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22695/97]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 (that is acquisition of title by virtue of long possession) of the Registration of Title Act, 1964. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49 take some time to process. Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a completion date in this case at this time.

I am informed that the Land Registry raised queries in relation to this application with the applicant's solicitor on 15 October 1997. The application cannot be progressed until a response is received to their queries.
