Vol. 486 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

139 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on whether it is appropriate that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12, who has a medical card, should have to seek private hospital treatment in order to avail of a hip operation; his views on whether this is reasonable given prevailing circumstances; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2322/98]

I have had inquiries made into this matter and I understand the patient concerned was admitted to the Adelaide Hospital on 26 January 1998.
