488 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of applications received in his Department regarding the vacant principal's position for a national school (details supplied) in County Mayo; and when an appointment will be made. [16301/98]

As I stated in reply to previous questions from the Deputy on 3 February 1998 and on 24 March 1998 the appointment of a principal teacher to a national school is a matter for the managerial authorities of the school.
