The background to this liquidation was outlined in my reply of 30 June 1998 [Official Report, volume 493, cols. 593-594]. Bell Lines Ltd. and four related companies were wound-up by order of the High Court on 4 July 1997 and a liquidator appointed.
I am advised by the liquidator that the liquidation is currently in train and that it will take a considerable amount of time to conclude the liquidation. The company has a number of subsidiaries overseas, all of which must be fully liquidated in their own right before matters in this country can be brought to their conclusion.
I am informed by the liquidator, who reports to the court, that there are a number of complex legal issues to be considered before the process concludes. Due to the complexity of the liquidation and the legal issues involved the date of completion of the liquidation cannot be anticipated.
