Vol. 506 No. 4

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Liz McManus

Question:

38 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a submission from the Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities seeking special arrangements in State examinations for students with specific learning disabilities; his response, if any, to the changes sought; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15611/99]

Officials from my Department met with representatives of the Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities on two occasions during the past school year in relation to examination arrangements. As the Deputy may be aware, I have initiated a public compre hensive review of the scheme of special arrangements. I expect, as part of that process, that the association will make a formal submission to the advisory group on certificate examinations in response to the discussion document titled Arrangements for Examination of Candidates with Special Needs which was published in May this year.
