Vol. 514 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

101 An Leas-Cheann Comhairle asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position on the extension to the sewerage system at Carrickmacross, County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3857/00]

An updated preliminary report for the scheme was submitted to my Department in February 1995 but has not been approved.

In October 1998 my Department requested each local authority to undertake a fresh assessment of needs for capital works in its area and to prioritise its proposals on the basis of the assessments which were to be forwarded by June 1999. The priority lists will be taken into account in the framing of water services investment for 2000 and future years under the national development plan. No proper assessment has yet been received from Monaghan County Council despite a number of reminders from my Department.
