Vol. 531 No. 2

Written Answers. - National Monuments.

John McGuinness

Question:

152 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the reasons for the delay in carrying out work which was promised at The Tower, Grangefertagh, Johnstown, County Kilkenny; if a time frame has been set for completion; if a programme of work has been agreed; if the information plaque is available; if so, when it will be erected; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5256/01]

The scaffolding required for the survey of Grangefertagh is currently booked for essential safety works at another site. These works have been delayed due to adverse weather conditions. As soon as these works are completed and the scaffolding is available, it will be erected at Grangefertagh, the site will be surveyed and any emergency works carried out, if required. The need for further works will be assessed and will be entered on the works programme for the district. The information plaque will be erected in May 2001.
