Vol. 538 No. 1

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

John McGuinness

Question:

180 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will arrange an immediate assessment based on hardship grounds for persons (details supplied) in County Kilkenny and issue a medical card without further delay. [17419/01]

The determination of the eligibility of persons to medical cards is, by legislation, the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the relevant health board. Accordingly, I have referred this case to the South-Eastern Health Board for investigation and asked that it reply directly to the Deputy.
