Vol. 541 No. 4

Written Answers. - Suckler Cow Quota.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

230 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will re-examine an application for a suckler cow quota by a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and if his attention has been drawn to the hardship being imposed on this person. [22763/01]

The person named is one of 2,944 farmers who have applied for an allocation of suckler cow quota from the 2002 national reserve. His application was received in my Department on 29 August 2001, two days before the closing date of 31 August 2001, and it will be processed in the normal way. These applications are currently being processed and it is not possible to say at this stage what the result of any individual application will be.

All applicants will be notified of the result of their applications by the end of November 2001.
