Question:

285 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason the increase in salary and the retrospective payment from January 2001 has not been made to child care staff in the Northern Area Health Board; and the projected date of payment. [5685/02]

Responsibility for the payment of the new pay scales for residential and community child care workers rests with the health boards. The Eastern Regional Health Authority has indicated that arrangements for the payment of the salary increases and arrears for staff in the Northern Area Health Board are expected to be implemented this month.
