The Corrib development programme, which the Western Regional Fisheries Board informs me includes Lough Mask and Lough Carra, has already received funding in excess of €3,118,475 under the now completed 1994-99 tourist angling measure. There was no commitment by the Western Regional Fisheries Board for funding under the Corrib development programme in 2001. The board will have the opportunity to submit an application for funding on foot of a forthcoming call for projects under the tourist recreational measure of the Border, midland and western region regional operational programme of the National Development Plan 2000-2006. The amount of funding secured will depend on the evaluation and assessment of projects put forward compared to other competing projects and the level of funding that will be available in the future will be contingent on constraints in public expenditure generally.
