Vol. 561 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

123 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will review the decision in recent correspondence received from his school transport section in relation to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4167/03]

The family to whom the Deputy refers would not ordinarily be eligible for transport, as they are not attending their nearest school. However, the Deputy has advised that the nearest school could not accommodate the children. My Department will re-examine the position on receipt of a letter from the school, confirming that they could not accommodate the children at the time that they commenced their primary education.
