Vol. 291 No. 9

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:

Senator Joe O'Reilly - The need for the Minister for Defence to make a statement on the status of the 15 Army Reserve centres, excluding military barracks or military camps, to outline staffing, training nights held and the centres in use.

Senator Paul Gavan - The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to make a statement on the report of the national disability inclusion strategy transport working group as it pertains to the review of the disabled drivers scheme.

Senator Micheál Carrigy - The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to make a statement on the need for an additional family resource centre in Longford.

Senator Eugene Murphy - The need for the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science to make a statement on the potential nationwide roll-out of the Quality and Qualifications Ireland, QQI, level 3 construction studies programme.

Senator Fiona O'Loughlin - The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement on the roll-out and operation of free schoolbooks for primary school students.

Senator John Cummins - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a statement on the regularisation of planning permissions that were granted for holiday villages to allow for their use as full-time residential accommodation.

Senator Aisling Dolan - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a statement on the capacity of local authorities to implement online applications for social housing, specifically Galway County Council.

Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the allocation of funding to Transport Infrastructure Ireland for the national roads programme for 2023 and the Department's priorities for the national roads programme projects for 2023.

Senator Martin Conway - The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on his plans to re-open Crusheen railway station on the Ennis to Galway line.

Senator Robbie Gallagher - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the introduction of measures to improve ambulance response times in the National Ambulance Service.

Senator Barry Ward - The need for the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media to increase targeted funding for non-professional sport across Ireland, including parasport.

Senator Emer Currie - The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the oversight mechanisms for the National Transport Authority.

Senator Maria Byrne - The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to outline the measures being considered in 2023 to support small and medium-sized enterprises.

Senator Lynn Boylan - The need for the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications to make a statement on the rebalancing of network tariffs by the Commission for Regulation of Utilities towards domestic accounts to be paid for by higher prices for large energy users.

The matters raised by the Senators are suitable for discussion, and I have selected Senators Joe O'Reilly, Gavan, Carrigy, Murphy, O'Loughlin and Cummins and they will be taken now. I regret that I had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Dolan on the ground that the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.
