Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:Senator Mary Seery Kearney - The need for the Minister for Health to provide an update on the progress on the drafting of the legislative proposals in respect of surrogacy for inclusion in the Health (Assisted Human Reproduction) Bill 2022, as announced in December 2022.Senator Mary Fitzpatrick - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the naming of the new national children's hospital after Dr. Kathleen Lynn.Senator Lisa Chambers - The need for the Minister for Transport to publish the all-island strategic rail review and commence works on projects in the South, in particular the Athenry to Claremorris section of the western rail corridor, in light of the announcement by the Northern Ireland Secretary that there will be no assembly elections until January 2024.Senator John Cummins - The need for the Minister for Education to introduce a voluntary national post-primary redeployment panel which would facilitate relocation of teachers while maintaining the status of their permanent contract or contract of indefinite duration.Senator Garret Ahearn - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the lack of access to medical cards for farmers and self-employed people with disabilities due to the way the means test is calculated.Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the provision of additional non-consultant hospital doctor positions in Bantry General Hospital. The matters raised by the Senators are suitable for discussion. I have selected Senators Seery Kearney, Fitzpatrick, Chambers and Cummins and they will be taken now. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.
