Vol. 292 No. 3

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:Senator Eileen Flynn - The need for the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications to make a statement on the roll-out of the electricity costs emergency benefit scheme to the Traveller community.Senator Martin Conway - The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the re-opening of Crusheen railway station on the Ennis to Galway line.Senator Erin McGreehan - The need for the Minister of Social Protection to make a statement on the policies in place to support persons with disabilities to become self-employed, and to ensure that self-employed people with disabilities are eligible to apply for the reasonable accommodation fund.

Senator Gerard P. Craughwell - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to ensure that the single service-related retirement gratuity paid to councillors is calculated as four twentieths of the representational payment for each year of service since May 2000, up to a maximum of 20 years’ service. Senator Maria Byrne - The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to outline the measures being considered in 2023 to support small and medium-sized enterprises.Senator Barry Ward - The need for the Minister for Transport to ensure that DART stations remain accessible at all times, including operational lift services.Senator Robbie Gallagher - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on plans to extend the role of community pharmacies in light of ongoing pressures within emergency departments and GP practices around the country. Senator Lynn Boylan - The need for the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media to introduce a tax on online advertising. Of the matters raised by the Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators Flynn, Conway, McGreehan and Craughwell and they will be taken now. I regret that I had to rule out of order the matters raised by Senators Ward and Boylan on the ground that the relevant Minister has no official responsibility in the matters raised. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
