Deputy Catherine Connolly asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage his plans to publish a national strategy for the sustainable development of the seaweed sector in Ireland with a particular focus on the interests of traditional seaweed harvesters and their livelihoods; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My responsibilities regarding seaweed are limited to the provisions of the Foreshore Act 1933 which, in terms of seaweed, involve my Department processing applications for the hand harvesting of seaweed which come before me for determination.
