The following deferred reply was received under Standing Order 51.
I refer to your Parliamentary Question No. 129 which was for answer on 25/10/2023 and which asked: To ask the Minister for Justice if his Department, or any body under the aegis of her Department, has facilitated in-person or remote briefings on any issue from organisations (TENI and Belong To) from 2021 to date; if so, the topic discussed; the fees paid to the organisations for these briefings; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
You will recall that at the time, I undertook to seek the information you requested and revert to you. With apologies for the delay, the information requested is provided below.
In June 2022,as part of Pride month, Minister Browne and I, along with Minister Roderic O'Gorman and officials from my Department, met with LGBTI+ community representatives including Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI) and BelongTo. At this meeting issues of importance to the community were discussed, including the Government’s work on hate crime, diversity and inclusion in policing, the work to disregard historic convictions of gay and bisexual men, and valuing and cherishing transgender identity.
In May 2023 an official from my Department had a meeting with TENI in relation to Domestic, Sexual and Gender Based Violence.
I can confirm that no payments/fees were paid to any of the representatives who attended these meetings.
