102. Deputy Christopher O'Sullivan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Defence when the two recently acquired Naval Service inshore patrol vessels will enter service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22034/24]
View answerSince their arrival further physical works were completed on both vessels together with familiarisation works, including these works and transportation costs, these vessels were acquired at a cost of €32m. A final comprehensive programme of familiarisation works and pre-sailing exercises with the assistance of reserve members of the Royal New Zealand Navy will commence on the 16 May 2024 in the Naval base. This 3 week programme will ensure that the Naval Service crew designated for this Ship will be ready to deploy the first IPV on operation duties in June.
