Finance Committee to discuss pension reform legislation with trade unions

22 Feb 2012, 09:58

Shay Cody, IMPACT; Billy Hannigan, PSEU; Noel Ward, INTO; Phil O’Sheaghdha, INMO; Louise O’Reilly, SIPTU and Jim Mitchell, POA will attend the Committee Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform today, 22nd February to discuss the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme) and Renmuneration Bill 2011.

Committee Chairman, Alex White TD said: “There has been much debate and commentary surrounding the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme) and Remuneration Bill 2011. The Bill will provide for a new single pension scheme for all new entrants to the public service. Under its provisions, public sector pensions will reflect career average earnings as opposed to final salary. Our meeting today will provide Committee Members with an opportunity to get the perspectives of a number of trade unions on the Bill. Committee members will also have a chance to raise issues in relation to the legislation.”

This meeting will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, 22nd February, in Committee Room 4, Leinster House 2000 at 4pm.
