29 Feb 2012, 11:07

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on European Union Affairs meets with the Ambassadors of France, Germany and Spain tomorrow Thursday at 11:30 am.

The Committee will hear from HE Javier Garrigues, Ambassador of Spain, HE Dr. Eckhard Lübkemeier, Ambassador of Germany and HE Emmanuelle d’Achon, Ambassador of France on the EU Fiscal Treaty.

Chairman of the Committee Dominic Hannigan TD said: “On foot of the announcement of a referendum by the Taoiseach and Tánaiste yesterday, tomorrow’s meeting will be a timely opportunity to seek the perspectives of fellow Member States, through their Ambassadors, on the Fiscal Treaty.

“The Committee will lead debate on the Fiscal Treaty in Ireland in an open, honest and inclusive manner. Since the Treaty was agreed in late January, the Committee has already had a number of productive sessions with leading experts from diverse viewpoints in the fields of economics and international relations. Tomorrow’s session will make a significant contribution to the Committee’s deliberations, serving as a reminder that the upcoming vote will be closely watched across Europe.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow Thursday 1 March in Committee Room 3, LH 2000 at 11:30 am. Committee proceedings can be followed live at: http://bit.ly/24YmPI
