18 Oct 2013, 16:58

You are invited to attend, or send a representative, to the launch of a report by the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine on increasing equity and transparency in producer-processor-retailer relationships.

18 October 2013

The report launch takes place next Wednesday morning in the A/V Room in Leinster House.
Event: Launch of Report on ‘The Grocery Goods Sector: Increasing equity and transparency in producer-processor-retailer relationships’’

Location: A/V Room, Leinster House
Date: Wednesday 23 October 2013
Time: 11 am

Committee Chairman Andrew Doyle TD and other Members will be in attendance and available for questions.
Deputy Doyle says: “Over the course of seven meetings earlier this year, the Committee sought to explore the relationship between supermarkets and primary and secondary food producers. Farming and the food industry make an enormous ongoing contribution to the Irish economy and, in particular, to rural communities in every corner of the country. It is essential to do everything in our power to ensure an equitable food supply chain for all stakeholders. This report, to be launched on Wednesday, outlines a series of commonsense, practical and actionable recommendations which, if implemented, can bolster the Irish food sector in its relationships with retailers.”

Copies will be available at the launch and the report will be published online following the event.
