Committee on the Future of Healthcare to hear from the Health Reform Alliance

The HRA will be represented by Ms. Cliona Loughnane, Policy and Research Manager, Irish Heart Foundation; Dr. Marita O’Brien, Policy Officer, Age Action; and Mr. Paul Gordon, Policy Officer, Irish Cancer Society.

The meeting will commence at 9.00 am in Committee Room 3 tomorrow, Wednesday, 20 July 2016.

Chair of the Committee, Roisín Shortall TD, said “This meeting marks the first in a series of engagements with representative bodies which will help the Committee set-out a long term strategy for the future of healthcare in Ireland. The Health Reform Alliance is an integral to these discussions as they represent various patient-focussed groups in calling for reform of Ireland’s health and social care system. ”

“The Health Reform Alliance represents such key bodies as the Adelaide Health Foundation, Age Action, Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Asthma Society of Ireland, Irish Cancer Society, Irish Heart Foundation and Samaritans and we very much look forward to this engagement.”

The Special Committee on the Future of Healthcare is also seeking written submissions from representative groups and interested stakeholders giving their views on a long-term health care strategy for Ireland.
