The Joint Committee on European Union Affairs will tomorrow meet with H.E. Mr Dušan Matulay, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Ireland, to discuss the priorities of the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The meeting will commence at 11.30 am in Committee Room 1 tomorrow, 8 September 2016.

Committee Chairman, Michael Healy-Rae TD, said “The four priorities, on which the programme of the Slovak Presidency is based, include an economically strong Europe, a modern single market, sustainable migration and asylum policies and a globally engaged Europe. This is an ambitious programme and, as a Committee, we very much welcome the opportunity to meet with Ambassador Matulay to discuss this programme further.”

“There are many opportunities and challenges facing the European Union currently and, once again, the importance of Member States working together, to achieve the best possible outcomes for the citizens of Europe, has come into sharp focus. On behalf of this Committee, I wish the Slovak Republic well in delivering on an ambitious programme for the next six months.”
