The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will meet today, Tuesday 27th September 2016 at 5pm in Committee Room 3, Leinster House.

27th September 2016

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

(i) The implications for the Good Friday Agreement of the UK referendum to leave the EU [Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade]; and

(ii) The fiscal implications for Northern Ireland of the UK referendum decision to leave the EU [Mr Máirtín Ó Muilleoir MLA, Minister for Finance, Northern Ireland]

Committee Chairperson, Kathleen Funchion TD said: “The repercussions of the Brexit vote continue to be felt right across Europe and Brexit has the potential to fundamentally change relationships on our islands. For this reason, the Committee’s first meeting will focus on the possible implications for the Good Friday Agreement. The North has a unique interest in Brexit and Committee members are keen to engage with Minister Charlie Flanagan tomorrow.

“In the second part of our meeting, we will focus on the fiscal implications of Brexit for the North. Mr Máirtín Ó Muilleoir MLA, Minister for Finance at Stormont, will brief us on the ramifications Brexit could have for the North’s economy, including trade, tourism and cross-border workers.”
