Irish Language Committee to hear from Dr Brian Ó Curnáin and an Dr Conchúr Ó Giollagáin

The Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands will hear from An Dr Brian Ó Curnáin, the School of Celtic Studies, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies and An Dr Conchúr Ó Giollagáin, the former Head of the Language Planning Unit in Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge at its meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, 18 October 2016.

An Dr Brian Ó Curnáin,  the School of Celtic Studies, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (Scoil an Léinn Cheiltigh, Institiúid Ard-Léinn Bhaile Átha Cliath) will discuss 'the current status of former Gaeltachts and old Irish‘ (Staid reatha na nIarGhaeltachtaí agus na seanGhaeilge’).  An Dr Conchúr Ó Giollagáin, the former Head of the Language Planning Unit in (Iar-Cheannasaí Aonad na Pleanála Teanga) in Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge in An Cheathrú Rua, Co. na Gaillimhe will discuss 'Crisis in the Gaeltacht: New ways to approach old challenges' (Géarchéim na Gaeltachta: Bealaí cur chuige nua i leith seandúshlán).  These are two intellectuals and experts and the Committee will benefit from their knowledge and advice.

This meeting will take place in Committee Room 4, Leinster House from 5pm, on Tuesday, 18 October 2016.
