16th November 2016

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

2)The Implications of Brexit for the Good Friday Agreement and its Institutions (resumed) – the implications of Brexit for EU funding, including PEACE and INTERREG funding (Ms. Gina McIntyre, CEO of the SEUPB, Mr. Shaun Henry, Director of Managing Authority SEUPB, Mr. John Greer, Head of Unit – Joint Secretariat).

Committee Chairperson, Kathleen Funchion TD said, “This week the Committee will continue its examination of the ways in which the North may be affected by Brexit. In the first session of the meeting, we will look at the human rights and equality implications of Brexit. EU membership is closely connected to human rights protections. Brexit may potentially result in a retreat from EU protections including on workers’ rights, gender rights, environmental rights and anti-discrimination legislation.\"

\"The Committee will also examine the implications of Brexit for EU funds, including PEACE and INTERREG, which have provided vital funding for North-South cooperation, regional development, and peace and reconciliation work on the island of Ireland”.

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
