The Joint Committee on European Union Affairs will tomorrow conduct a two-part meeting. To begin, the Committee will meet with Mr. Kevin Cardiff, Member of the European Court of Auditors, to discuss the European Court of Auditors Annual Report 2015 and the European Union's use of public funds. The Committee will then meet with Mr. Dara Murphy TD, Minister of State for European Union Affairs, to be briefed on the work of the General Affairs Council.

The meeting will commence at 4.00pm in Committee Room 1 tomorrow, Tuesday, 29 November 2016.

Committee Chairman, Michael Healy Rae TD, said “The European Court of Auditors are the body charged with improving financial management at EU level, promoting financial accountability and transparency and guarding the financial interests of the citizens of the Union. We welcome this opportunity to hear from Mr. Cardiff on their 2015 Annual Report, a document which looks at the implementation of the 2015 EU budget and the European Development Fund.”

“We will then hear a further update on the recent and upcoming work of the General Affairs Council (GAC) from Minister Dara Murphy. These briefings from the Minister are key to our understanding of how the various Member States are working together and what response is being coordinated to the key issues, including the UK withdrawal and migration.”
