12 Dec 2016, 16:10

The Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands will meet tomorrow, 13 December 2016 with officials of the Department of Education and Skills to discuss the provisions of the recently published Polasaí don Oideachas Gaeltachta 2017 - 2022.

Chairperson of the Committee Catherine Connolly TD: “The Committee will meet tomorrow with officials of the Department of Education and Skills to tease out with it the provisions of the recently published Polasaí don Oideachas Gaeltachta 2017 - 2022.  The Committee intends to review not just the policy itself but the strategy the Department will put in place to ensure that the policy is implemented in full and effectively. We welcome the policy and acknowledge that it is a positive development for the teaching of the Irish language in schools in the Gaeltacht and we are looking forward to our engagement with the Department.”

This meeting will take place in Committee Room 4 at 5 pm tomorrow, Tuesday, 13 December 2016.

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.
