The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement has reiterated its hope that the precepts, principles and protections committed to in the Good Friday Agreement are safeguarded, in light of the ongoing political challenges facing Northern Ireland.

Kathleen Funchion TD said today, “\"As Chair of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, I have been asked by Committee members to issue a statement highlighting concern at the potential implications of recent political developments in the North, especially in the context of the particular challenges that Brexit poses for the island of Ireland.”
"The Committee supports the efforts of all parties involved to resolve the situation, and encourages them to adhere to and safeguard the precepts, principles and protections that they have committed to in the Good Friday Agreement and subsequent agreements.\"
