Petitions Committee to discuss discontinued Mobility Allowance and Motorised Transport Schemes

10 Oct 2017, 13:01

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions will meet tomorrow at 1.30pm in Committee Room 1, Leinster House.

Finian McGrath TD, Minister of State at the Department of Health, will appear before the Committee to discuss the discontinued Mobility Allowance and Motorised Transport Schemes.

Committee Chair, Seán Sherlock TD, said: “The Committee expects to see legislative progress by the Minister tomorrow. In February 2013, the Department of Health decided to discontinue the Mobility Allowance and Motorised Transport Schemes to new applicants. The Department and the Minister have had ample time to prepare a Heads of Bill on this matter and it is included in the legislative programme for this year. Consequently, the Committee is keen to hear directly from the Minister as to what the status of the bill is.”
